Enjoy the process. “Preparing for a competition offers the opportunity to learn a large amount of repertoire and to present it at one’s highest level of artistry. So much is valuable about that process in developing one’s own voice. While winning is an added plus, many musicians enjoy vibrant and rich musical lives without having won a competition, and of course many prize winners struggle professionally. Ultimately competition offers possibilities of growth but it does not define a musical career.”
